Mold Found in Homeowner's Attic
The causes of most attic mold problems are subtle and hard to identify. However, all mold problems arise from a moisture problem due to roof issues/leaks, improper ventilation, improper venting from pipes and/or vents. You cannot have a mold problem without a moisture problem. So it is very important to keep your attic dry. It is good practice to do regular checks in your attic; otherwise if it goes unnoticed it may be costly in repairs. Make sure there is adequate insulation around fixtures, dryer vents do not discharge into the attic, as well as kitchen and bathroom vents as this produces a lot of warm and humid air.
