What you can do until help arrives

Following any water damage incident, prioritize your safety above all else:
- Assess the safety of staying in your residence.
- Be vigilant about potential electrical and "slip and fall" hazards.
- Limit activities to those that are safe for you to undertake.
- Exercise caution, as wet materials can be exceptionally heavy.

What to Do After Experiencing Flooding:
- Remove excess water through mopping and blotting.
- Wipe off any remaining water from wood furniture after removing lamps and tabletop items.
- Prop up wet upholstery and cushions for effective drying.
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
- Utilize air conditioning to expedite the drying process in the summer.
- Take colored rugs away from wet carpeting.
- Safely relocate art objects to a dry area.
- Collect loose items from the floors.
What NOT to Do After Flooding:
- Avoid leaving wet fabrics in place; hang furs and leather goods.
- Refrain from leaving books, magazines, or other colored items on wet carpet or floors.
- Do not use your household vacuum to extract water.
- Keep away from using television or other household appliances.
- Do not turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet, and steer clear of rooms with sagging ceilings.

What To Do After Flooding
